The History

Since the band's inception in '88, 606 has lived the definition of “professional musician”, opening for and playing alongside the likes of Howard Jones, Jon Secada, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Cause & Effect, Stevie B., Foghat, Firehouse, Gene Loves Jezebel and more.

Other notables include (in chronological order):
o Headlining St. Pete Pier's 1991 New Year's Eve party (100,000 people in attendance)
o Featured band for USF's Bull Blast at The Sun Dome
o Several Bennigan's St. Patrick's Day big tent parties (setting an all-time attendance record of over 1500 people at the Sarasota store)
o Full-page feature in the Sarasota Herald Tribune, titled “Awash In Controversy” (exploring the tension between the band's Mennonite heritage and playing in bars)
o Headlining at Hard Rock in Orlando
o Pleasure Island in Disney World (twice on the main stage and twice in the Beach Club)
o Headlined for various out-of-state college concerts & fraternity parties
o Brought to Kentucky to play the birthday party of the largest alcohol distributor in the state of Kentucky
o Brought back to Kentucky to play the Phoenix Hill Tavern during The Kentucky Derby
o Playing for the Tampa Bay Bucs Kick-Off Party at the Tampa Stadium
o 4-year house band at Harpo's of Ybor City, playing before a house-estimated 10,000 people each weekend.

Throughout the 90s, the band released three CDs of original music: the ten-track “Never...Ever...” (The Sharks); the fifteen track “Awash In Controversy”; and the eleven-track “I Can” of which track #7, “I've Got Something” won Runner Up in the Dance Category of the John Lennon Song Writing Contest in 1999 (the largest song writing contest in the world).

A typical 606 set-list includes danceable old-wave and club hits from the '80s, the best of the '90s and a handful of today's alterna-pop.

606 truly has lived the definition of “professional musician”. It is this professional approach to music and their notorious easy-to-get-along-with attitude that makes 606 a musical experience that needs no apology.
